NEW Logan Lerman photoshoots for Nylon

“I don’t wanna make any more stupid films—I’ve done a few of those! I realized I had to do some films in order to do the films I wanted to do. Because there’s a whole game in trying to work yourself to be in a position that you can make films that you want to make.” - Logan Lerman

Charlie's mixtape

In The Perks of Being A Wallflower, Charlie makes a mixtape which he later gives to Patrick. I thought it would be interesting to update that playlist as if the book had taken place in 2012; to sort of celebrate the movie that’s slated to be released in October.

Logan Lerman : from Demigod to a 'wallflower'

From playing a demi-god in Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, Logan Lerman is now cast as 15-year-old Charlie-- the lead role in the film adaptation of Stephen Chbosky's novel The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

Logan Lerman on Perks of Being a Wallflower and His Most Tragic Mixtape

Emma Watson enjoyed her “epic” kissing scene in ‘The Perks of Being a Wallflower’.

Logan Lerman Tells How He Went Sour On Mixtapes

Emma Watson jumped in first, exclaiming, "I make mix CDs all the time. I made one for these guys!"—indicating her co-stars. And Ezra Miller remembered being "involved with some mixtape processes with my sisters, growing up. We made a lot of mixtapes, for road trips."
But the lone holdout—and saddest story—from the mixtape debate was Logan Lerman, who confessed, "I kinda stopped."
Stopped? Stopped making mixtapes? But...but why?!

Answer: the same reason that anyone stops making mixtapes. DISASTROUS MORTIFICATION.
"I was really young, I really liked this girl...this is why I don't make mixtapes anymore," Logan said. "I gave her the CD, I remember the song I put on—it was 'She's Electric' by Oasis. And she was like, 'YOU ARE SO WEIRD. OH MY GOD.'"
That is truly tragic, y'all. The only consolation: Wherever that girl is, she's probably kicking herself so hard right now.
Would you like to receive a mixtape from Logan Lerman?

'Perks Of Being A Wallflower' Cast Bringing Exclusive Clip To MTV

Emma Watson, Logan Lerman and Ezra Miller will be on hand Tuesday September 18 to present an exclusive new clip from the film, followed by a 30-minute interview on MTV.com.
It all goes down at 7:56 p.m. ET, when the cast will introduce the clip on-air and then sit down with MTV News' Josh Horowitz for an extended interview about the film on MTV.com.
"The Perks of Being a Wallflower" is based on Chbosky's book of the same name, which became a word-of-mouth hit/phenomenon when it was published in 1999. The story revolves around a sweet, smart and shy high school freshman Charlie (Lerman) whose life is changed for the better when he is embraced and adopted by an endearing group of oddball upperclassmen (Watson, Miller, Mae Whitman, etc.). It is a moving, poignant and just plain special coming-of-age story that has resonated with millions of readers for years. The film is scheduled to open in New York and Los Angeles on September 21, 2012 and expands to other select cities on September 28, 2012.
Set your reminders now to tune-in for "MTV First: The Perks of Being a Wallflower" on Tuesday September 18 at 7:56 p.m. ET.

Logan Lerman calls meeting the Beatles legend one

"I had to present the movie for this screening out in New York, and Sir Paul was there, during the Toronto International Film Festival. "I got to meet him, and he was complimenting the movie, and it was so crazy, because I was like, 'You're the most influential musician alive!' "
Well, he didn't actually say that, but he was thinking about saying it.
"What did I say to him? He was talking to me most of the time, and I got really nervous. I said, 'Yeah, but you wouldn't tell me the truth if you didn't like it, right?' " he recalled with a laugh. "[I thought] 'This isn't really happening.' He said, 'No I just would have left really quick, man, I just would have got out of here.' "
No matter his nerves, Lerman did manage to express his gratitude for McCartney's compliments.
"I said something like, 'You're an inspiration,' and he was really sweet, a really nice guy."
"The Perks of Being a Wallflower" opens in limited release September 21.

NEW The Perks Dancing Scene

Anyone who’s ever been to a school dance has likely had that moment, when they’re standing on the margins of the dance floor, watching bolder, older kids cut loose with abandon in the center, wondering if they themselves have the nerve to step into the crowd and join in. That kind of adolescent yearning is at the heart of the coming-of-age drama The Perks of Being a Wallflower, writer-director Stephen Chbosky’s adaptation of his own best-selling YA novel of the same name.
In this exclusive clip from the film — which premieres Saturday at the Toronto Film Festival and begins a limited release in theaters Sept. 21 — young freshman Charlie (Logan Lerman) is the kid on the sidelines, and his new friends, seniors Sam (Emma Watson) and Patrick (Ezra Miller), are the ones tripping the light fantastic on the dance floor. Check it out below:

But sometimes what happens in Toronto stays in Toronto, so we look back at five performances that elicited plenty of buzz during the festival, but fizzled in release.
And for our cover, rising star Logan Lerman—represented at Toronto with “Writers” and “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”—talks about becoming a leading man, how he finally decided to turn serious about acting as a career, and how good work begets more good work. For these stories and more, pick up a copy of Backstage on newsstands Thursday. And for more features and news, check Backstage.com throughout the week.
